Right now, at least one decision we make will have a powerful ripple effect across all aspects of our life. But One Decision isn't about taking one overwhelming big step; it's about starting with a single, important choice we can make every day: the decision to be authentic. To be you, and to do so without doubt, second-guessing, without worry or anxiety. It is the decision to know who you are, to be who you are, and express yourself authentically. Whether you find yourself up against a new challenge, deciding on a change in direction, or in need of a total reinvention, Coach Mike has created a powerful blueprint to help you connect with your authenticity and adjust your thinking so that your life reflects who you truly are. We make thousands of decisions every day of our lives. Right now, there is at least one decision we can make that will have powerful ripple effects across all aspects of our life and those around us. But how do we determine which decisions matter and which ones don't? And how can we use the ones that matter to get us to where we want to go in our lives? One Decision isn't about one overwhelming big step. It is about making at least one decision every day that shifts your circumstances and moves you closer to your goals and dreams. Instead of trying to make the "best" decision, Coach Mike guides you to make the decision as your "Best Self" through simple and practical exercises. Coach Mike reveals areas that are keeping us "stuck," and are standing in our way of progress--including resentment, fear, shame and more. With this critical shift in perception, suddenly we are able to go beyond the decisions themselves and focus instead on creating a better life, no matter what comes our way. One Decision is a shift in thinking and a powerful blueprint that will catapult you into action, helping you turn obstacles into opportunities, struggles into successes and create a new outlook to improve your outcomes while living out the days ahead. Rather than constantly over-thinking the "big" decisions you're facing, or simply choosing not to choose, this book will help you reconnect with your gut instincts so you can make all of your decisions with confidence and move in new ways towards all that you want for yourself in your life. Who makes the important decisions in your organization? Strategy, product development, budgeting, compensation—such key decisions typically are made by company leaders. That’s what bosses are for, right? But maybe the boss isn’t the best person to make the call. That’s the conclusion Dennis Bakke came to, and he used it to build AES into a Fortune 200 global power company with 27,000 people in 27 countries. He used it again to create Imagine Schools, the largest non-profit charter-school network in the U.S. As a student at Harvard Business School, Bakke made hundreds of decisions using the case-study method. He realized two things: decision-making is the best way to develop people; and that shouldn't stop at business school. So Bakke spread decision-making throughout his organizations, fully engaging people at all levels. Today, Bakke has given thousands of people the freedom and responsibility to make decisions that matter. In The Decision Maker, a leadership fable loosely based on Bakke's experience, the New York Times bestselling author shows us how giving decisions to the people closest to the action can transform any organization. The idea is simple. The results are powerful. When leaders put real control into the hands of their people, they tap incalculable potential. The Decision Maker, destined to be a business classic, holds the key to unlocking the potential of every person in your organization.

Decision making is a complex phenomenon which normally is deeply integrated into social life. At the same time the decision making process often gives the decision maker an opportunity for conscious planning and for taking a reflective stance with respect to the action considered. This suggests that decision making allows creative solutions with a potential to change the course of events both on an individual and a collective level. Given these considerations, we argue that in order to more fully understand decision making the perspectives of different disciplines are needed. In this volume we have attempted to draw together contributions that would provide a broad view of decision making. Much work has been carried out in the writing and editing of this volume. First of all we would like to thank the contributors for their efforts in producing interesting and important texts and for their patience in the editorial process. Each chapter was edited by two or three reviewers. These reviewers are listed on a separate page in this book. Our heartfelt thanks go to them for their time and for their incisive and constructive reviews! We are also grateful to the publishing editors at Kluwer Academic Publishers, Christiane Roll and Dorien Francissen, who have been generous with their encouragement and patience throughout the editorial process.
