Parental instincts have been known to drive parents to do wild, crazy and often over protective things. The four books contained within this collection are proof of how far one parent was willing to go when he felt the need to protect one of his children. The advice you’ll find in “Life Lessons” about how to be more successful in any aspect of life could be considered good advice for everyone. You will most likely find that it reads as good advice from the author to his child. But, it also could be good advice from a supervisor to their employee or from a friend to a friend. Yes, it is even good advice from a child to a parent. The advice contained on the pages of these books knows no vocational limitations. The path to success in one career choice is virtually the same in all of them. The advice you will find here applies to people of all ages with any educational background and doesn’t require any specific level of life experience to be considered valid. No matter what your goals, your hopes or you dreams, the advice you will find within these pages will help you to find the success you seek. As you turn each page, you may discover many new ways to look at old things. You may remind yourself of some of the hard lessons that you too have learned from life or you may smile to yourself when you realize that... “Life really is this simple...if you let it be.”

Selfish Ambitions :The need to get ahead no matter what the cost. Only thing is, it never works out. It is short lived. Most times you try to get in where you don’t fit in. You sneak, you lie, you cheat, you steal, and in some cases you kill. First let me say that there is nothing wrong with wanting to get ahead, wanting to be ahead, or wanting to go ahead. But when you hold back on people, or step on people to get ahead, you are thinking only about self. Most times it’s only for a moment in time that you are able to obtain the status, then it’s gone. But the Damage goes on, the damage that you caused. This is a wicked minded person. They will blame you for their down fall, and never thank you for your assistance (because they were using you). They feel you did nothing to help them, but are in fact blocking their way. The sad thing about these people is that they think they are really successful! Sorry to say, they believe a lie These people will turn against you, turn their back on you, or even help you fall. (remember they are selfish). They will pretend they love you. Pretend to be your friend. You are only a means to an end to them. The only way to reach them or defeat them, if you must deal with them, is with the Fruits of The Spirit.

What does it mean to be a God-glorifying baseball player? Diamond Gems: Life Lessons between the Lines reminds Christian athletes and coaches of God's mandate to "proclaim the excellencies of Him" while on the field of play. Each chapter teaches a fundamental baseball principle and uses that concept as a means to establish an even greater connection with an essential doctrine of the Christian faith. This book is much more than a Christian devotional about baseball. It is a strong reminder of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ and how it manifests itself through the life of a Christian baseball player. It is a helpful tool for those who desire to establish a stronger foundation both as a Christian and as a baseball player. David Ray is a former high school baseball coach and currently serves as principal of Lorraine Elementary School in Georgia. He played baseball at the University of Kentucky and has been drafted professionally by the Oakland A's, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Kansas City Royals. He also earned a Master of Divinity degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Education degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Mary Pat, live in Conyers, Georgia, and are the parents of two children, Rebekah and Jonathan.

Understanding resiliency and student success by studying people who succumbed to risk but later triumphed. A number of people who failed in school currently enjoy meaningful and successful lives. They include, though they are by no means limited to, those with attention and executive function challenges, learning disabilities, learning and behavioral challenges arising out of traumatic events in their lives, and even those impacted by all of the above. Up until recently, little attention was paid to successful people who did poorly in school. Why? One reason might be that many of us doubted that it was actually possible. After all, many loving parents and caring teachers spent countless hours trying their hardest to help these failing children turn things around in school, sometimes with little or nothing to show for it. If these children continued to struggle and fail in school with all this help and support, it was understandable to assume that they would not succeed in the real world decades later without it. So what did we miss? Why were we so wrong about them? And perhaps most importantly, how can their life experiences help educators and parents understand what schools can do better to support students who are struggling today? In his groundbreaking new book, Mark Katz draws on research findings in clinical and social psychology, cognitive neuroscience, education, and other fields of study—as well as stories of successful individuals who overcame years of school failure—to answer these and other questions. In the process, he shows how children who fail at school but succeed at life can give teachers and schools, counselors and health care professionals, parents and guardians—even those whose childhood struggles have persisted into their adult years—new remedies for combatting learning, behavioral, and emotional challenges; reducing juvenile crime, school dropout, and substance abuse; improving our health and well-being; and preventing medical problems later in life.

The Pulpit Commentary was first published between 1880 and 1919 and is a highly respected work written by conservative, trustworthy men. Containing over 22,000 pages and 95,000 entries, it is one of the largest and best-selling homiletic commentary sets of all time. It was directed by editors Joseph Exell and Henry Donald Maurice Spence-Jones and utilized more than 100 authors over a 30-year span. When reading this commentary, it is not difficult to see why it has remained a favorite amongst pastors for more than 100 years. There are three key elements which set this apart from its contemporaries, the first being that it gives an exposition, or verse-by-verse, annotation of each verse in the Bible. The second element is that it explores the framework of the text, the homiletics. Finally, it supplies the homilies with multiple model sermons from various authors. Also included is a translation as well as historical and geographical information. The Evangelical Magazine and Missionary Chronicle declared, “This commentary bids fair to take a conspicuous place among the ever-multiplying aids to the study of the Holy Scriptures. It will revive the great work of Lange, and will far exceed the Speaker's Commentary in the bulk and fullness of its material. The peculiarity of the Pulpit Commentary is that it offers special assistance to the preacher: first by giving him a critical and exegetical exposition of the text of Scripture, and then providing him with succinct and helpful directions as to the preachable aspects of the chapter and paragraph already explained." The print edition of this set typically retails for more than $1,000 making the current offered price a very good bargain. Due to its size, it has been broken up into nine separate volumes: Volume 1 Genesis to Joshua Volume 2 Judges to 2 Kings Volume 3 1 Chronicles to Job Volume 4 Psalms to Song of Songs Volume 5 Isaiah to Daniel Volume 6 Hosea to Malachi Volume 7 Matthew to John Volume 8 Act to Philippians Volume 9 Colossians to Revelation The footnotes have been placed in line with the text with each footnote number enclosed in red brackets (i.e.: []) and the text in green. There is also a linked table of contents at the beginning of each volume for ease of navigation. Key Features * Over 22,000 pages with more than 95,000 entries * One of the largest and exhaustive commentary sets of its kind * Contributions from over 100 authors * Expositions—with thorough verse-by-verse commentary of each verse of the Bible * Homiletics—with the framework or overall look of the text * Homilies—four to six sample sermons from various authors * Detailed information on Biblical customs * Historical and geographical information * Translations of key Hebrew and Greek words All 23 Volumes of the printed version are included in these nine volumes. 1. New York Times bestselling author, superstar comedian, and Hollywood box office star Kevin Hart turns his immense talent to the written word by writing some words. Some of those words include: the, a, for, above, and even even. Put them together and you have a “hilarious but also heartfelt” (Elle) memoir on survival, success, and the importance of believing in yourself. The question you’re probably asking yourself right now is: What does Kevin Hart have that a book also has? According to the three people who have seen Kevin Hart and a book in the same room, the answer is clear: A book is compact. Kevin Hart is compact. A book has a spine that holds it together. Kevin Hart has a spine that holds him together. A book has a beginning. Kevin Hart’s life uniquely qualifies him to write this book by also having a beginning. It begins in North Philadelphia. He was born an accident, unwanted by his parents. His father was a drug addict who was in and out of jail. His brother was a crack dealer and petty thief. And his mother was overwhelmingly strict, beating him with belts, frying pans, and his own toys. The odds, in short, were stacked against our young hero. But Kevin Hart, like Ernest Hemingway, J.K. Rowling, and Chocolate Droppa before him, was able to defy the odds and turn it around. In his literary debut, he takes us on a journey through what his life was, what it is today, and how he’s overcome each challenge to become the man he is today. And that man happens to be the biggest comedian in the world, with tours that sell out football stadiums and films that have collectively grossed over $3.5 billion. He achieved this not just through hard work, determination, and talent. “Hart is an incredibly magnetic storyteller, on the page as he is onstage, and that’s what shines through [in this] genial, entertaining guide to a life in comedy” (Kirkus Reviews).

“...ultimately this book is not really about six famous leaders who derailed. It is about you. And me. And anyone who ever decided to accept a position of leadership.” -Patrick Lencioni, writer of foreword for Derailed, author The Five Dysfunctions of a Team "This is not just a book for CEOs. It is for anyone who serves in a leadership capacity—pastors, teachers, government officials, and even mid-level managers in corporations. Not only is this a book you should read; in my opinion, it’s a book you can’t afford not to read. There is simply too much at stake." - Michael Hyatt, CEO, Thomas Nelson What causes a leader to fail? What can we learn from those who have fallen? How do we avoid failure of our own? These are just a few of the questions answered in Derailed: 5 Lessons Learned from Catastrophic Failures of Leadership, a book for leaders and aspiring leaders of all levels by Tim Irwin, Ph.D. Derailed chronicles the collapse of six high-profile CEOs, the factors that drove their downfalls, and the lessons that we can learn to stay on track and avoid derailing our own lives and careers. The story of the fallen CEO has become a cultural fixture: veering off course with the force of a train careening off its tracks, leaving fiery wreckage and devastating injury throughout the organization. These executives are often the smartest and most respected individuals in their industries, with glittering resumes and histories of successful leadership. Yet they astonish us by driving the train dramatically off course, blinded by unchecked power and arrogance. Dr. Tim Irwin believes that these leaders suffer from failures of character that are common to each of us--even the most capable individuals. Deficits in authenticity, humility, self-management, and courage become more dangerous as we take on more leadership, and can cause us to ignore glaring signals that might otherwise save us from catastrophic demise. Derailed profiles the collapse of six high-profile CEOs (Robert Nardelli – Home Depot, Carly Fiorina - HP, Durk Jager – Proctor and Gamble, Steven Heyer – Starwood Hotels, Frank Raines – Fannie Mae, Dick Fuld – Lehman Brothers) and the factors that drove their downfalls, finding that derailment actually happens long before the crash and can be avoided. Derailed explains the character qualities that are essential for successful leadership and how to cultivate them so that we can avoid being derailed.

By all modern standards of success in today's society, I am considered a Complete and Total Failure. What can I say ... I'm sorry.I know I should have had a well-paid job, should have saved assiduously and wisely, should have set up a good pension, and, currently, should be on a World cruise in one of those multi-story liners, together with all my other Silver Cruiser friends.Instead, here I am, living in a one-room Sheltered Accommodation flat in Streatham Hill in London, eking out a pathetic existence on my pathetic Old Age pension, barely able to afford my daily coffee and a biscuit while I write this heart-rending tome.Sorry if I'm depressing you. There is, however, an anomaly in all this.I'm really happy.A manual on how to live a life based on Flow, trusting Life to take you where you need to go. It contains sections on understanding how Cycles and Crossroads crucially affect your life; accepting and encouraging Serendipity and Coincidence; tells the wonderful story of The Ancient River of Life; and ends with a dire warning about Rocking Chair Regret. The author shows, through his own life, how this works; warns that Planning is Anathema, and, even worse, useless. He quotes his mother's dictum:'If you live pure, and work hard, everything will happen as it should.'"Brian Astbury shows us an alternative road/river to finding happiness and success... and it's a revelation."
